So Much Cooking

Today, I spent four hours in the kitchen getting everything ready for Thanksgiving tomorrow. It was a lot of work, but I know I'll be thankful tomorrow. I have to drive over an hour to Denver to pick Dan up right in the middle of the day, so I knew I wouldn't want to have to deal with making all the food then.

My kitchen is clean, and my refrigerator is COMPLETELY FULL. It's quite crazy. But I'm excited! Thanksgiving food = the best!

Thanksgiving Break

Tonight, my brother is getting in to Colorado Springs. He will be here in time for Thanksgiving, and I'm so happy about that! :)

He also will be staying with me for a while. How long? Who knows? But I'm hoping this is the good change in his life that he needs. I'm pretty excited.

In other news, I am officially on Thanksgiving break, and I am so thankful for that. I get to sleep in tomorrow, and nothing makes me feel better.

Blast From the Past: 100s Night 2011

When Dan was a freshman (also known as a four degree) at the Academy, he had the pleasure of helping his roommate "decorate" a firstie's (or senior's) room during the weekend they found out where they would be stationed. It's a tradition at the Academy, and I use the word decorate loosely. Basically, they trash the rooms while the upperclassmen are gone.

I was lucky enough to be able to help Dan and his roommate Tim do this, and we had a lot of fun! I can't believe that was already a year and a half ago -- I can't wait to see what the freshmen do to Dan's room in 2014 when he gets his assignment! :)

getting everything ready

plastering the walls with military papers

and more

and even more

and, yes, even more

seriously... more

close up!

a SAMI is a room inspection, so they left this on the door...

what a mess

the pinata was full of red glitter... hahaha!

my own personal touch ;)

this was crazy

I actually feel really bad for the guy who had to clean all of this up! Oops!

But as per Academy tradition, if your room gets trashed, it means you're liked/respected, so it actually is a good thing! :)

Magnets Galore

A while back, I posted about the Instagram Magnet Craft that I made. It is a very budget friendly project, and it's a lot of fun.

You can check out the entire post BY CLICKING HERE.

I have since updated my refrigerator, and I now have 222 magnets on it! Holy cow!

Check it out:

I LOVE THIS! But I am running out of room! :(

Cutting these photos out is actually quite relaxing. Yes, it's a bit tedious, but I do it while I watch TV: multi-tasking at its best, right?

What will I do when I run out of room, though? I guess I will remove all of my other magnets from the freezer on top and move these up to make room for more... but this will only last so long. Eventually, I am going to need something bigger, and Dan is going to hate me. Oops.

Blast From the Past: Winter of 2010

It's been a long time since I've posted a "Blast From the Past", and I'm excited to finally begin catching up again! This blog with be over with in just a month and a half, and I want to have ALL of my memories written out, complete with pictures. It looks as if I've still got some catching up to do, but rest assured -- I only need to get through 2011 after this because 2012 has been documented as I've posted throughout this year. I am linking them all in chronological order, and I will attach that link to my NEW blog once it is started in 2013. :)

In the winter of 2010, I had been in Colorado for nearly half a year already. Dan and I experienced many Air Force football games together. We then drove to Las Vegas for Thanksgiving break, spent New Year's Eve in Denver, and went skiing at Keystone for the first time! Overall, it was a fun winter, and I hope this year has just as much to offer!

Ellie and I had matching Columbia jackets, so we had to get a photo! We also don't have very many photos together at all... which is weird to me... so I had to share this one!

"The Bird" --aka the Air Force mascot -- decided to jump from an airplane!

Go Falcons! :)

We bundled up but had a lot of fun! :)

We drove to Las Vegas for Thanksgiving break and saw so many pretty things along the way! :)

When we got to Vegas, Dan took me to see Nellis Air Force Base, which was pretty cool!

... and of course we had so much fun on the Strip!

That trip was a blast because it was Dan's first time away from the Academy during his freshman year, and we just had so much fun together :)

We spent New Year's Eve in Denver... playing games and having fun at Dave & Busters!

Then, in January of 2011, we drove up to Keystone to ski... it was not pleasant, but we went three times that year. We were unable to go last year at all, so here's to hoping this year is much better -- with professional lessons!

Winter of 2010 and in to 2011 was so much fun! Spending time with Dan during his freshman year at the Air Force Academy was precious because he was working so hard and I had my first post-college job, but we made time for each other and had a blast. :) I can't wait to start posting about all of the fun we had in 2011 next!
